Spring?

Image
I haven't had too much time to get out and take pictures this past week...well maybe that's a lie. After my first week of working full time again I was a total couch potato this weekend. I did take my camera down to the Farmer's Market on Saturday morning and got a few cool shots. Spring is definitely around the corner, its funny after being in LA for so long, where there are no seasons, to actually experience seasons again!

Happy Valentines Day! I spent the day with my hubby at a nice brunch, a walk around town, and the movies, Valentine's Day of course! He is now off to the Bay Area for training all week :( It's been a crazy week or so since my last post...I have a new job! I'm starting at Improvement Direct on Tuesday in sales/customer service and I can't wait. I had to drop my film class which was sad, but I am able to keep my digital class since its at night. I think its going to be a tough long week; actually waking up to an alarm clock, packing a lunch and a gym bag...but 100% worth it. I need a schedule, I'm a planner and its been driving me nuts over the last 6 months not knowing my schedule weeks in advance, and I've just been watching too much TV, ha! With that said I needed to post because it might be a crazy week. Rollie and I were fortunate enough to have a few days off together this past week and I was able to take some great pictures, especially up in the sno...

Peaceful

I love love love my classes! Unfortunately I'm back to looking for a full time job, which means I may have to drop my black and white film class and just continue with my digital night class. I'm trying to take things one day at a time but I seem to look WAY into the future and get stressed out about things I can't even control yet. I have an interview tomorrow for a great job at a great company, but instead of being excited I started to think, what about my upcoming trips, what about school, etc. I always do this and it needs to stop. This brings me to my pictures for the day, yesterday in between class I drove down this little two lane road, pulled off to the side and waited for the sunset. I just downloaded this cool app for my iphone that shows sunrise and sunset times. During this half hour or so all I thought about was how beautiful the surroundings were and was at peace with everything in my life...I need to do this more often!

A couple years ago a started a 'bucket list' if you will, as cheesy as it may sound I think the movie, Bucket List prompted this. I've had this ratty piece of notebook paper folded up in my wallet since then and for some reason I thought about it today. I got inspired again and thought I should make this list more concrete by making it a blog entry. I'm also hoping that by sharing my list with friends and family (the few of you who read this) it will inspire me to make more of these dreams become a reality. It was supposed to be 100 things but its a work in progress at 61. I've been lucky enough to have accomplished a handful over the last 24 months (give or take a few months). For now I'll make a side note with the date for those dreams I've reached, and going forward I will make a new entry. Here goes: 1. Finish SCUBA certification 2. Dive in the Great Barrier Reef 3. Practice yoga in its native form and country 4. Treat my parents to a wonderful ...

Well, the first day of my new career hopefully began yesterday, I started classes! It's going to be amazing. I'm taking Basic Black and White Photography (with a 35 mm camera) and Introduction to Digital/Photo-shop. Its going to be very interesting switching back and forth between the two, but I thought if I was going to take this seriously I needed to go back to the basics and learn Basic Photography over again too. It sounds like I won't have any assignments for the first few weeks, but I'll be sure to post as soon as I do. The sun came out today for the first time in what seems like weeks, well probably since my last post! I took Rufus for a nice long walk this morning, and brought my camera along...here are a few...

Rain, Rain, Go Away

Image
I know we really need this rain, but it hasn't stopped in days and its supposed to continue through the weekend! Yikes. Well, I have a lot to look forward to in the next week. On Wednesday I'm headed to San Fran to visit my good friend Genny who is there with her boyfriend Curt for a work function, I haven't seen her since the move so I'm very excited. I'll wake up Thursday morning and head to Sac Airport to get my Aunt who is here for the weekend!! And lastly, I start photography classes next Tuesday! So regardless of the rain, I'm in a pretty great mood today. So here is a picture of another thing that makes me happy, Rufus, his first birthday was last week.

Sun!

Image
Today was the fist day we had sunshine in weeks and Rollie and I were both off work, so we drove up to Paradise (yes Paradise, CA) to this really cool lookout point and took a few great pics.

Its been a while since I took advantage of my other hobby, scrap-booking. Now that I have a little free time I've been digging into again over the past few days. I finally finished one from our first trip together to Cozumel, Mexico...only three years later! I'm also trying out some greeting cards for family, I just finished this one.

Reflection

Image
New Years is a time to reflect on the past years events. 2009 unfortunately began with the loss of a very close friend, Ben Chandler. Not a day goes by that Rollie and I don't think about him and his family. We had to accept that everything happens for a reason and that he is now in a better place. The year and wedding planning had to go on, so between January and March that's exactly what happened. Between invitations, photographers, color schemes, flowers, cake flavors, appetizers, honeymoon plans, registries, and I could go on and on, we (yes we, Rollie was the perfect fiance/co-planner) loved every second of it. When March 14th, 2009 came everything was perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better weekend. Our friends and families came together for an amazing celebration. The next day we were off to Antigua, B.V.I. for ten days of R&R. After coming home it was back to reality of day to day activities as well as knowing I was going to be laid off at anytime ...

I broke my own promise to write/post something everyday, and I don't even have a good excuse! It has been a busy month though. I went to Orange County and LA to visit friends and family since I wasn't going to Michigan for the Holidays. My Aunt and I went for a great walk on the beach in Newport, and it really made me miss the ocean. The following day I spent time with friends and went to one of my favorite places in Hermosa, Fritto Misto (byob wine). It really made me grateful for my wonderful friends, I miss them tons up here. Then the Holiday festivities began. I love Christmas! We definitely went all out in our cozy apartment. Hopefully next year we'll have a big house to decorate. We attended a few parties, and had a few at our place. Christmas eve was low key and stress free with Rollie and his mom. The four (it was Rufus's first Christmas) of us woke up Christmas morning, opened presents, had a yummy breakfast, and lounged around until 1ish. That afte...

I've been slacking on this new blog project. To get back on track I'm going to start posting one photo a day for a while. This one is from our recent trip to San Francisco, after the rain cleared we drove up to twin peaks and got some amazing shots.

Wine Club

This will be short and sweet today...We got our first shipment from our first wine club! About a month ago in Napa we joined Mumm Napa's Club Vivant. Can't wait to pop this bubbly!

Exciting Changes

Image
This has been such an exciting week! I finally got with the times and got an iPhone! I'm obsessed and overwhelmed at the same time, between downloading new 'apps', playing words with friends with Jamie and Rollie, and always being able to check facebook could be dangerous for me. I also registered for photography classes at Butte College for the Spring 2010 semester. Photography has always been a passion of mine. I'm the girl who ALWAYS has her camera and I always download and email pictures to friends and family when asked (unlike anyone else I know!). While obtaining my bachelor degree in Sales and Business Marketing at WMU back in the day, photography was always in the back of my head. Unfortunately at the time I was lazy not wanting to take the art prerequisites. A big regret. I spent the last 5 years in corporate America learning a lot and making life long friends but I've realized that sitting at a desk is not for me. Its time to do something I love. ...

Life

Image
About a year ago I became obsessed with wedding photography blogs while planning my own wedding. I found them so enjoyable and inspiring so I have finally decided to document my own life this way. The past ten months have been a roller coaster of emotions with more change than I've had in the past ten years! I got married to the most amazing man in the world, adopted the best Boston terrier puppy, was laid off, and moved from the South Bay of Los Angeles to a small city in Northern California where I only know a handful of people. So here I am, ready for yet another adventure and thought of no better way than to document it through a my blog. Enjoy!
