Radiant Orchid

I had an intuition that the color of the year for 2014 was going to be Radiant Orchid!  Not really, its just a total fluke that our Christmas Card outfits were in that shade.  I'm really looking forward to a little R&R over the next four days.  We actually have NO plans Sunday through Christmas Day, at first I was bummed out because that's just not like us but I think we are both pretty content lounging around making cookies, watching Christmas movies and playing with Lily. Merry Christmas! 2013

Sunday Funday in the City

Today we headed down to San Francisco to meet up with Cathy & Sal for lunch.  They let us pick so we decided on Coqueta, Michael Chiarello's restaurant at Pier 5 along the Embarcadero.  The food and views were outstanding but I was a bit disappointed in the service.  We had confirmed over the phone that we were going to be 4 adults and a highchair but when we arrived that informed us that they only had 1 highchair and it was already in use.  Well, needless to say this made for a difficult and exhausting dining experience.  They gave us the highchair after we were done with lunch, and at that point Lily did not want to be strapped down after being free for over an hour.  Anyways, the food and drinks were great. Its tapas style so we all shared a charcuterie and cheese plate, beet salad, crispy duck meatballs and paella.  After lunch Rollie, Lily and I walked around the Ferry Building before deciding to make the trek over to Union Square to window shop and check out the big Chris

Six Flags

Yesterday we ventured out in the cold weather to Six Flags with our friends Kristen & Kerry.  They had free passes and they have special attractions going on for the Holidays right now.  We had so much fun!  Lily rode a train, the carousel, saw sharks, stingrays, seals, and walruses. All of us adults actually rode some roller coasters too and enjoyed our 'adult' hot chocolates.  Such a great way to get into the Holiday spirit.  They even had a snow hill that Lily and I sled down (poor Rollie tried to video it but it didn't work).  Lily's favorite part was the little Holiday show...teenagers dancing and singing to Christmas songs!

Thanksgiving 2013

Image
After returning from Michigan Thanksgiving was here!  I really do love Thanksgiving but its still very hard without my Dad.  It was definitely his favorite Holiday so I can't help but think of him even more at this time of year.  I was going to order a whole meal from Whole Foods but felt guilty and broke down and went shopping.  Our really close friends Kristen and Kerry came over and brought half the Thanksgiving menu as well so that helped :)  Rollie's mom made us yummy cinnamon rolls for our post turkey trot run too. We had lemon herb rubbed turkey, macaroni and cheese, sage sausage stuffing, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, rolls, orange cranberry sauce and oreo pie...yep oreo pie! We lounged, ate, walked, and slept.  Ended the night watched Elf.  Perfect day with friends and family.

Surprise Birthday Party

Last week I traveled home to celebrate a little pre Thanksgiving/birthday/family time.  Flying solo with a walking running 15 month old was not easy, not to mention I was recovering from the flu! She was great for the flight out there but it didn't matter, she did not want to sit still for more than 15 minutes at a time.  But we made it there safely and once there Grandma took care of us. My brother and I visited my Dad and picked out a really nice headstone...it wasn't an easy thing to do but we really bonded over doing it and its nice to know we have a place to visit him. I finally got to join the girls for Cranbrook Holiday tables which put us all in the Holiday Spirit. We had a great week but the highlight was definitely my Grandma's surprise 80th birthday.  My mom, aunt, and uncle had been planning it for months and it went off without a hitch.  My Grandma was very surprised and so appreciative. I'm so thankful that I got to be with my family if not on Than
