Way overdo...Maui Part 2: Wailea

I've been a bad bad blogger with the exception of my weekly pregnancy updates.  We've been home from Hawaii for almost 6 weeks and I have yet to update our whole trip!

Day 5-Sunday 5/13/12
Sunday morning we woke up and checked out of the Hyatt...sad to leave but excited to venture to another part of the island.  On the way to Wailea we stopped in Lahiana for some shaved ice :)  It took about 40 minutes to get to our new hotel, Hotel Wailea.  The hotel had beautiful grounds and we were able to check in right away.  After getting settled in our new room we headed down to Wailea beach and checked out the Grand Wailea.  I definitely wasn't impressed with it and glad that we had paid probably half the price at our hotel just a mile up the road.  We had some lunch at the little beach cafe and then sat on the beach (we could rent free beach chairs and umbrellas from the Grand Wailea through our hotel).  From the beach we headed into Kihei the next little town over and picked up a pizza from Pizza Madness and had a casual night on our patio.

Day 6-Monday 5/14/12
Happy birthday to me!  And no better way to celebrate than with a cinnamon roll the size of my head!  We woke up and headed into Kihei to the Cinnamon Roll place...these things were amazing!  After breakfast we took a nice long walk a the strand by all of the hotels in Wailea and then stopped at the Shops @ Wailea and bought a few souvenirs and gifts for family back home.  Then we spent the rest of the afternoon by the pool.  That evening we got ready for the night and headed up to a nearby golf course restaurant, Gannons for happy hour.  We then headed down the Four Seasons for sunset and dinner.  After strolling around the Four Seasons we both agreed that we want to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary there...it was beautiful.  After watching the sunset and taking some great pictures we sat down for dinner at Duo. By far the best steak and truffle mac & cheese I've ever had!  Perfect way to end a prefect 31st birthday :)

Day 6-Tuesday 5/15/12
Our last full day in Maui :(  We headed down to the beach in the morning and tried to snorkel a bit...there wasn't much to see but the water felt great.  We enjoyed the great weather and people watching on the beach until early afternoon and before heading into Kihei for lunch.  We picked 808 Deli which was a great recommendation from some friends and then we headed over to some local shops for some more gifts.  We headed back to the hotel and spent a little bit of time by the pool before meeting up with Pete and Kerry at their new hotel just 2 minutes away at the Marriott.  We enjoyed one last sunset and happy hour at the Marriott bar before heading to Monkeypod for dinner.  Monkeypod is actually under the same ownership as Merrimans but a bit more causal...the food and atmosphere was great...another fantastic meal in paradise.  On Wednesday we packed up and headed to the airport.  Everything was perfect about this trip...even though we didn't get a chance to do everything on our list...we will definitely be back!
