Colorado recap

Two weekends ago we headed to Colorado for a babymoon/wedding.  We got in super late Thursday night and crashed at the hotel.  Flying at almost 35 weeks pregnant was actually not as bad as I thought.  Friday morning we headed to Denver biscuit co for breakfast. It was recommended to us from a friend and it definitely lived up to the hype.  Rollie had a biscuit breakfast sandwhich and I had a biscuit cinnamon roll with bacon on top...omg!  Afterwards we strolled around the Lower downtown district and shopped a bit before hitting Wynkoop, a brewery and another recommended lunch spot, Jonesys, known for french fries.  Rollie got the cheddar/bacon fries and I opted for the Asian chili/ginger fries.  That's all we had for lunch because we knew we wanted to save room for a nice dinner.  We napped back at the hotel before heading to The great divide brewery where we were meeting a friend from Fort Collins.  It was packed (Friday happy hour)...I've forgotten what it's like to go to an actual bar!  Genny met up with us for a beer (we really liked the beer there) and then the three of us walked about a mile to dinner at Guard & Grace. Very cool modern atmosphere and probably one of the best filets I've ever had.  And it was of course great to catch up with Genny who i hadn't seen in 4 years!

Saturday morning we woke up, checked out and got on the road to the mountains.  We made a quick pit stop at Red Rocks. It's so beautiful.  There were tons of people working out on the stairs and even a few yoga classes & boot camps going on...pretty amazing workout back drop.

We arrived in Winter Park right around lunch time so we dropped off our bags and headed into the village via ski gondola (so fun that they still run it in the summer).  We ate pizza outside and took in the fresh air & scenery.

The wedding was held at a little inn about 8 minutes from our hotel.  I've known Chris (and his family) since preschool, 30 years!!!  The ceramony was beautiful and there was not a dry eye in the house, as the officiant briefly spoke about Josh, Chris older brother who passed away 6 years ago.  The reception was a blast and it was so fun catching up with some old high school friends.

Sunday we lounged around before heading back to Denver.  We met some of my high school friends for lunch, shopped a bit and explored the huge city park.  We were both a bit frustrated by the end of the day that we didn't plan it out better (like go to a museum or the botanical gardens) but oh well, we had a nice leisurely day together.  Before our late flight we met up for dinner with one of Rollie's fraternity brothers and his family.  We missed Lily like crazy but knew she was in great hands and it was of course great to spend time just the two of us.  I'm so glad I got to see Chris & Lauren tie the knot!
